School Makeup - Drugstore

Hello everyone,

I have the back to school series starting, I thought I would start by doing the drugstore back to school makeup. I have a lot of products to show you but their are also alternatives as well, you can obviously switch this up to suit your needs and wants but this is basically the products I love. I have also decided I am going to be doing around every other day for the blog posts as of todays post.

Primer - I don't have too many drugstore favourite for the primer category, but one I love is the Bourgeois Happy Light primer for oily to combination skin. This is great for school mornings because it is light for your skin, absorbs quickly but this also makes your skin look like it's glowing giving it this fresh natural look, great to make you look more awake for early mornings.

Base - For my base I chose the L'oreal infallible 24 hour matte foundation, this is a high coverage foundation but you can sheer it out using a stippling brush, fingers or a damp makeup sponge. This is a good product for school because it looks great all day, meaning your not worrying about it all day.

Concealer - Concealer is a life savour for school mornings especially under the eyes! The Maybelline anti age eraser is great for covering dark circle and tired eyes, make you look instantly awake. For a concealer to cover blemishes the Bourjois healthy mix concealer has great coverage for redness and covering blemishes, it's just a tad drying under the eyes.

Powder - One of my favourite powders of all time is the kick Ass translucent powder by Soap and Glory! A beautiful powder for setting foundation and concealer, but keeps your makeup in place all day as well as keeping you from being shiny! This is also a great school bag product because it has no colour so it doesn't look too much over the course of the day, it's got sturdy packaging and a mirror too (Perfect product for school)

Contour/Bronzer - I don't have too many bronzer/contour favouite from the drugstore because I prefer high end at the moment. A great one is the Bourjois Chocolate bronzer, lovely for adding warmth to the face as well as great for contouring! A contour on the drugstore market is the master sculpt my Maybelline which looks lovely, give this a try if you think the Bourjois one may be too orange for you!

Blush - I am loving cream blushes a lot lately! My favourite one from the drugstore is again a Bourjois product, it's the cream blush in the shade 03, this gives you a instant light pink glow to the cheeks, with this I wouldn't use a highlighter as it makes you look glowy already because it has slight shimmer in it.

Eyeshadow/Crayon - I have two different products to show you, first of all for eye shadow I have the Collection eyes uncovered pallet you for in Nude, this is a great alternative to the Urban Decay naked pallets, these are lovely quality shadows for a small amount of money, great shades to do a lot of different looks. If your not too keen on shadows I have a eye shadow crayon for you from Bourjois  called the colour band shadow and liner in the colour 03 Beige minimalist, a very natural gold to sweep over the lids and your done, you can add a crease colour if you feel the need to.

Eye liner - Again I have two different options for you, for a liquid liner I love the Soap and Glory supercar, this is great for everyone pros and beginners at liner! So easy to use and stays for a long time. If you prefer a Kohl liner then the Rimmel scandaleyes liner in Taupe, a more natural option to black, great for the waterline for definition, but isn't too dramatic, this would also look lovely with the eye shadow options I mentioned above on the lash line.

Brows - Another Soap and Glory product I love which is the Brow Archery, this is a great brow pencil which gives you a lot of precision especially from the liner side to fill in the brows adding extra hairs, but the pencil is great for definition.

Mascara - Keeping in natural for a school day, the Max Factor false lash effect in black brown. This mascara is perfect for volume and length, I would recommend a black brown mascara because it looks more natural but still giving you lovely full lashes.

Lipstick/Gloss/liner - I have a whole selection for you, to start with a Liner the rimmel liner in Eastend snob is a great nude pink, great for just lining the lips or applying all over. If you want a crayon type product the Soap and Glory sexy mother pucker in nudeist it a great your lips but better colour, would look lovely with the liner. Lastly if your more into a gloss, then the Soap and Glory mighty mouth is a brilliant gloss which is a natural pink, this is also very moisturising.

Sorry some brands were repetitive. I hope you enjoyed!

Winter Beauty Essentials

Hello everyone,

I haven't done a makeup post in a while, but today I am sharing with you my favouirte winter beauty essentials and makeup staples in your makeup/clutch bag this month.

Let's start -

My first winter essential is highlighter, I go for a gold because gold symbolises Christmas in my eyes. Also if you can't go for 'glitter' at Christmas time when can you? Anyway this is the Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. I love this on it's own or with blush, also it's perfect for any skin tone. Onto eyes, this is where you need to keep it less natural for my essential lip colour. Instead of eyeshadow I prefer a cream/base for my eyes, this again is shimmery and is the Mac Paintpot in Let's Skate, a beautiful light pink with tiny gold shimmer running through it. Then onto eyeliner, this is the Rimmel Scanadleyes black eyeliner, this is great for achieving a thin and precises cat eye, this is a perfect look to pair with natural face products and a bold lip, this screams winter. Moving swiftly on to lips, this is the Bourjois Rouge Edition velvet in 08 Grand Cru, the perfect matte berry red, stays on for ages and looks great every time... A star in my eyes.

September Favourites 2014

Hello everyone,

I am glad this isn't too late, but today I have my September favouirtes for you. I have a lot of beauty to talk about, with some randoms of course.

Beauty

The first thing I am going to start off with is the Rimmel Match Perfection Loose Powder, I use this before foundation and after primer, this keeps your makeup on for longer and you looking more matte. I also use this powder with the Real Techniques Duo Fibre face for a light dusting without applying too much. Moving onto primers, I have been loving the Bourjois Health Mix Matte Primer, this is very light and looks really nice under foundation, I also mix this into some foundation for a more luminous glow. Talking about keeping you matte and foundation on for longer, I have been using the NYX Matte Finish Setting spray, this isn't really wet and drys very quickly. I use this last to keep everything in place through out the day and it works well, just as good as the Urban Decay one. I do love filling in my brows and any brow products in general, I have been using the HD Brows Palette in Foxy to fill them in, then I use the Benefit Gimme Brow to set them in place, this creates a very nice but defined brow, and they go very well. I have a lot of lip products but not too many, I am going to start off with a lip balm, this is the Nuxe Reve De Miel, this is one of the best lip balms I have ever used, it's a thick moisturising paste and the best thing ever. Onto some thing more inexpensive, the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me, has been a nice transition into Autumn for school and everyday. But now a pink lippy this is the Sleek Matte Me in Petal, this looks stunning and are not that drying at all.

Random

Random favourites are some of my favouirtes to talk about. I have been watching quite a lot of TV programmes last month. Education The East End is one of my favourites, I love seeing different schools and it makes you think more about the teachers in the respect that you get to see the impact it makes on them, good and bad. Then another medical programme I like is Saving Hope, it's very good and really different. I would highly reccomend you watching the series. The last programe is Who's Doing The Dishes, I love seeing in the celebrities houses, and it's a really god concept.

I have a few songs this month, the first one is Blame It In Me by George Ezra, Ella Eyre Comeback is amazing, Shift K3Y I know and lastly Vane Riptide. They are all amazing songs, 100% reccomend them.

101// Dealing with oily skin

Hello everyone,

I wanted to talk to you all about having oily skin, I am going to show you some products I love that helps keeping your oily skin at bay. I am going to include some tips aswell.

Moisturise// Having oily skin means that your skin produces more oils, but you still need to moisturise to keep your skin not being dry. But you don't want a moisturiser that is going to make you more oily, so try not to go for a hydrating one as much because during the day you could have an oil build up, this won't be the best for a blemish free face. I love the Nivea Day Moisturiser. But if you look at most brands they will do a formula for your skin type I know Nivea do, also Simple do aswell.

Prime// Using primer is so important even if you don't have oily skin, but you can find a primer tailored to certain skin types. I have this one from NYX, this is called The Shine Killer, they also do other for large pores etc. But Smashbox also do a lot of primers for certain skin types, and they are great. The idea of a primer is so pro long your makeup and especially your foundation, but certain primers can also have benefits like this one eliminates the look of oil and shine on the face.

Tip 1 - Keeping your foundation on for longer// Their is a tip I have learnt from Gossmakeupartist on youtube. And that is to prime your skin like usual, but before you apply any face makeup, sweep a loose powder (I use the Rimmel Match Perfection loose powder) over first then apply your face makeup. This keeps your foundation on for longer and keeps your face looking less oily during the dace. Great if you have oily skin, but if you have combination skin make sure you only apply it in your oily places on your face.

Foundation// Finding a foundation specific for your skin type is so important, you don't want a dewy foundation for oily skin, because it's not going to mix well for you. But for foundation, I use the Mac Studio Fix Fluid in NC15. If you ask a makeup counter they can reccomend you a foundation for your skin type. Then if you want a lighter coverage, I use the Maybelline Dream Pure BB cream for oily skin, in the shade light. This is great for oily skin because it really helps, I have brought lots of these in the past and it always works. Also if you are looking at a foundation that doesn't have a specific skin type look for a oil-free/non-greasy foundation, but remember you can always powder if you want to try something different.

Powder// After my foundation and concealer I use a powder. Their are lots to chose from, but any powder is going to keep you matte looking so you can really try anyone that takes your fancy. But I like the Rimmel Match Perfection because it is very fine, I apply this with a duo fiber brush for a less powdered look. But some other powders I really like are the Rimmel Stay Matte, Soap and Glory One Heck Of A Blot, Mac's Studio Fix powder aswell as the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. Powder has a lot of benefits for your makeup but the main two are keeping you matte, aswell as setting your foundation and powder in place so it doesn't move around.

Tip 2 - Keeping powder on you// Through out the day especially at school, I carry some powder with me and a powder brush. This is great if your looking a bit oily through out the day aswell as just keeping everything in place. I would take a powder that isn't loose, and has a mirror. This is why the Soap and Glory one heck of a blot is perfect at mattifying and it also has a mirror.

Powders not Creams// A down side about having oily skin is that you can't use cream products to your advantage. Especially when it comes to highlighter, blush and bronzer some of the best products now are creams. If you are going for a cream product the best is to get something with a cream to powder formula, this means it's actually a cream but it dries as a powder finish. Some cream products are like the YSL Touche Eclat, Max Factor Cream Blushes and the Bourjois Bronzing Primer. But their are powder alternatives like the Mac Mineralize Skin finishes in Soft and Gentle, Nars Laguna Bronzer and Benefit boxed powders.

Setting Sprays// If your going for some cream products this is perfect for you, I have been using setting sprays quite a lot, for example the Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray and the NYX Matte Finish setting spray. This are perfect to use after applying foundation/setting your makeup with powder, then at the end after you have applied all your makeup. But setting sprays are the best because they have lots of benefits, they are to keep you matte/dewy looking depending on what one you get, to make powders not look so powder like and making makeup last longer.

Other tips for dealing oily skin//

Tip 3 - You should stick to a skin care routine that helps, go for oil free products or things to help with oily skin. Also you want to do this when you brush your teeth so morning and night, also before your makeup. Don't forget the bare basics - Cleanser, Face Wash and Moisturiser.

Tip 4 - Being prepared, like when it's the time of the month your always prepared. Well having oily skin you need to be prepared like bringing powder with you or maybe even blotting sheets.

Tip 5 - Face masks are great, try and use one every week that helps with oily skin. Either pick a clay/mud mask or something that helps with oily/shiny skin. Also face masks feel like a treat every week.

Drugstore makeup - Back to school

Hello everyone,

I have another back to school post for you, and I have to apologies for two of them being one after another. But anyways I am going to show you my drugstore makeup for going to school, I have the basics and add on's aswell. I am also going to do a high end version aswell.

The Basics//

Foundation - My choice of foundation is the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum, I have the shade 51. This is perfect for a light-medium coverage that is kind of dewy but I have combination skin and it looks really nice, I apply this with a Real Techniques Complexion Sponge for a light coverage or the Buffing Brush for a more medium/flawless coverage. (£10.99 - Link)

Blush - I love blush and I always wear it, but for school to stick to the natural side of things I go for a cream blush. I have been loving the Max Factor Cream Blush in Soft Pink. Perfect to apply if your in a rush and always looks natural when blended. I tend to use my fingers for this and dab in with the my foundation brush I am using that day. (£6.99 - Link)

Highlighting Concealer - When I am wearing concealer I try and keep this as minimal as I can. I tend to go for a highlighting one and try to use this only under my eyes. I use the Garnier Roll on concealer, I try and go without using concealer on redness/blemishes. If I feel I need to be more highlighted I will use this on the cupids bow if I need to. I use a Real Techniques Contour brush to blend this in. (£9.99 - Link)

Long lasting lip stick/cream - When I am at school I don't really top up my lip product because their isn't enough time, I try and use a long lasting lip stick/cream like the Sleek Matte Me in Petal. I love the colour I would say this is a pink with slight purple undertones. (£4.99 - Link)

Mascara - Mascara completes any look, and I feel lost without it on during the day. I have been using the Max Factor False Lash Effect in Black Brown for my drugstore mascara, this i waterproof and is a pain to get off, but I love the colour, the length and the definition it gives my lashes. (£10.99 - Link)

Add on's//

Lip Liner - Some may disagree about wearing lip liner to school, but if you want to make something stay on longer without topping it up this is your best bet. I have the Sleek Eau La La Liner in Red Sky Night. This is a perfect match for the lip cream I talked about above, very easy to apply either to line the lips or all over for more colour. (£4.99 - Link)

Eye Brow pencil - Eye brows are so important to me and I love filling them in. The only pencil I have found which is decent is the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil. Very easy to use for beginners and it's great that it has a comb, perfect for your makeup bag. (£2.69 On sale - Link)

White Pencil Eyeliner - I love white eyeliner it's perfect for the waterline this makes you look instantly more awake, I would also use this as a inner corner highlight aswell as a brow bone highlight. This is the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, this is the perfect sizer for your makeup bag and so easy to use. (£5.00 - Link)

Liquid Eyeliner - Eyeliner isn't the best if you have no time in the mornings, but it does make a big difference. This is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Black. This is great for defining your eyes slightly for school, also makes your lashes appear fuller. (£5.49 - Link)

I will have a high end one coming soon! Also maybe a Ikea Haul tomorrow. What are your school drugstore makeup favouirtes? Comment below
