The makeup brush guide

Hello everyone,

I have a guide post for you which is going to be all about makeup brushes, I think I want to make this a regular thing now and then talking to you about anything beauty retailed, and my guide to the perfect products for beginners etc. This one is going to be all about makeup brushes that are just perfect for you to complete a full face of makeup!

The Foundation Brush -

The foundation brush that I swear by and always have since the day I bought this is the, Real Techniques Buffing brush which you can find in the core collection set. The buffing brush has synthetic bristles which makes it perfect for building up coverage, and is great for any type of foundation from liquid to mineral, this will give you a natural look which can be builded. This makes applying foundation so quick and easy, but it doesn't take it streaky or uneven. This set is a great one but this is by far the best brush it in. (£21.99 - link)

The Makeup Sponge - 

Makeup sponges are something that I have vernally turned my nose up because it just reminds me too much of them triangle ones, that just collect all the foundation instead of applying it. But the Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge is unlike no other! This is a unique one because of the shape of it, this has a rounded which is perfect for larger areas of the face and quicker application, where I use a dabbing motion, then the tip of this is great for the smaller areas, for example under your eyes and covering imperfections and lastly you've got the flat side which is great for around your nose and eyes. This sponge is best used damp, ideally use cold water and keep squeezing out the excess water for perfect application. (£5.99 - link)

The Concealer Brush -

When it comes to concealer I chop and change between two, the first one is the Real Techniques contour brush, which you can also find in the core collection kit. This brush is perfect for around your eyes and nose especially, because of the smaller size but it's tapered and applies the product while blending it at the same time. When it comes to blemishes the Real Techniques deluxe crease brush which is available in the starter set, this is a good one as it's denser and smaller, this is great for redness around the centre of the face but is great for pin pointing concealer, this blend the concealer while applying it in specific areas. The Powder Brush -

I'm not too fussy when it comes to powder brushes then some people are, but the one I go back to all the time is the EcoTools powder brush, this is an affordable brush but makes applying powder quick and easy as it cover the face but isn't so big that you have no control over this. This is a soft brush and is perfect for any type of foundation from pressed to loose, it applies the powder evenly and gives a smooth finish to the skin.(£9.99 - link)

The Blusher Brush -

Finding the perfect powder brush hasn't been easy for me, until a few years ago when I came across the EcoTools Precision Blush Brush, this is the perfect size to get the product onto the brush to begin with, and fits very nicely in Benefit Boxed powder but this makes applying blush a quick process. The colour application that you can get form this brush is perfect, the unique shape is small enough to fit on the cheeks and it's oversized so it applies the product where you want it to go. Also a quick mention, when it comes to cream blush I tend to use the Real Techniques Stippling brush as it's quick to use, but it blends cream products real quickly without leaving your foundation looking streaky. The Contour Brush -

One of my favourite brushes of all time is the Real Techniques Sculpting brush! This brush is perfect for controlling especially because of the shape, it has a flat and wide head which makes it super easy to control and add definition to the face, it's perfect for cream and powder products! This applies the product effortlessly  as well as blending out at the same time. I have recommended this for a few friends and they are as obsessed as I am! Finding a control brush hasn't been easy because I wanted one that wouldn't apply it harsh, but one that is build able to alter the shades and this is the brush! (£9.99 - link)

The Bronzing Brush -

I don't tend to use bronzer too much but when I do the Real Techniques blush brush is perfect, simply because it's a fluffy and tapered brush which applied the bronzer in a more natural and effortless way simple because it's big enough so it's great at dispersing the bronzer making it more natural. But with the brush being tapered it allows you to apply the product then it blends at the same time, this allows you to also do your bronzer in hardly no time! (£9.99 - link)

The Highlighter Brush - 

For Cream highlighter I use the Elf Small stipple brush, as I find duo-fibre brushes best for cream products as it blends them much nicer without leaving you looking streaky and unnatural. This brush is so cheap but is amazing, this is also the perfect size and shape for highlighter and applies the products where you want it to go. Then for powder highlighter and everything in between, I use the Real Techniques duo-fibre contour brush which you can find in the duo-fibre kit, this is the perfect size for highlighter and picks up the right amount of product without looking over the top, especially when it comes to your highlighter! This blends the product and makes everything a much quicker process. (£4.50 and £23.99 - link and link)

The Eyebrow Brush -

I use a range of products for my eye brows from cream to powder and the best brush is the Anastasia Beverly Hill #12 brush, this is great for your eye brows because it's small enough for precise application, and it also comes with a spoolie at the other end! I will never look back now, and won't use any other brush when it comes to my eye brows! (£15.00 - link)

The Cream Eyeshadow Brush -

When it comes to cream eyeshadow and bases, such as Mac paint pots I use the Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush which is available in the starter kit, this is the perfect brush for applying cream products as it just blends them so quick and effortlessly! Nothing looks unnatural and streaky, it makes the cream eyeshadows blend really nicely, as well as making everything look even and flawless. (£20.99 - link)

The Eyeshadow Brushes - 

When it comes to eyeshadow the best brushes I have found are the dual ended brushes from EcoTools which is called the Eye Enhancing Duo Brush Set. These two brushes (in actual fact four brushes), give you everything you need to complete an eye look it comes with a shade, define and blend and smudge! Everything you need for a daily look, these make eye shadow a lot easier to do as it helps the shades blend a lot nicer, but it applies an even wash of colour all over the eye and for the price you can't go wrong! The Blending Brush - 

The last brush is an eye blending brush, which is the Mac 234 this is just the perfect brush for blending eyeshadow as it is a split fibre brush, one side offers you a natural side which gives you a softer and more natural look, while the synthetic fibres gives you the option to use this side for applying colour onto the lids while giving you a perfect look. This brush is such a hand brush, because you could essentially do your whole eye look with this one brush if you was in a rush, just perfect while giving you a lot that has no harsh edges. My Favourite Brow Products

I am going to talk to you about my favourite brow products, apart from Blush and Lips, brows are my favourite part of doing my makeup, simply because they make so much of a difference to any look, they are a key staple in my makeup routine. I personally think everyone should do something to their brows, wether it's just shaping or filling them in, it makes such a difference and makes everyone look a bit more out together, they stand out and change/shape your face.

Maybelline Brow Satin Brow duo (£5.99) - This is a great drugstore eye brow product and it's a very unique one. This has a pencil on one end which is perfect for shaping, then you have a sponge with brow powder on to fill in your brows. This is very good and gives natural definition to your brows, perfect for beginners who are just looking for natural definition. Link

Anastasia Brow Wiz (£15.50) - This is a very staple brow product as in pencils are the easiest to use and the most common, a lot of people may own this because it is very easy and convenient. This has a brow brush on one end to distribute the product and to blend harsh lines, this needs to be used with a light hand as pencils can come across very unnatural and harsh at times. This is a great product for travelling as well as using on the go or if your in a hurry. Link

Benefit High Brow Glow (£16.50) - This is more for the people who want the very slick and strong brows, this can be used to highlight all round the brow for definition or can be used in certain places such as under the arch of the brow for a crisp arch. This this a good product but it's not a staple for many people, I don't use this everyday but this can make a big difference. Link

Real Techniques Brow Brush (Can't but separate £20.99 for set) - Their aren't too many good brushes for a cheaper price compared to Mac etc, but Real Techniques is greta quality this brush can be very natural; because it's bigger than some brushes, meaning it looks natural as it doesn't add too much products, great with most powder products not too much cream. Anastasia No 12 Brush (£15) - This is now my favourite brow brush for cream products, it adds more definition because it's smaller, this is also very precise for creams. This is a the perfect brush as well because of the brush on the end, it blends products out like no other. Link

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade (£15) - Speaking of cream products above, the reason why I brought the No 12 brush is for this product, the Dipbrow Pomade is one of my favourites! Perfect for definition, you don't need a lot of product and a little goes a long way, I would also recommend using a light hand since you don't want it too harsh. I would say for everyone to try this because it's so easy to use that it can't really go wrong. Also the best thing about this is that it lasts forever meaning you don't have to worry about it throughout the day! Link

Mac Eyeshadows (£13) - You may of heard about using eye shadows for brows, well for me the best eyeshadows for this is Mac. I have Charcoal Brown and Omega which are both Matte shadows, for your brows you want to use mattes since their not sparkly etc. These two colours are the best for brows I think and would suit any colour brows. These can also still be defining as well as natural, it just tends on how much you use etc. Link

HD Brows Palette Foxy (£19.95) - This is one product I had always walked to try as HD Brows as a brand made your brows look perfect! This is a lovely palette again for travelling, but because you have so many colours which is great if you tend to go for different looks. 

Benefit Gimme Brow (£18.50) - This is one of my favourite products again, this is a life savour when your not looking to do much with your brows, great for every day! This gives slight definition and keeps them natural. This is amazing on it's own or layered with other products such as the Mac eyeshadows. This is perfect for beginners who don't want too much product or definition. Link

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo (£17) - This is again a lovely product from Anastasia which keeps your brow natural but defined. I tend to mix the two colours together to create the perfect colour and definition. This is easy to use and great to carry with you on a daily basis. Link

Benefit Brow Zings (£24.50) - This again is another of my favourite products, this is perfect for creating definition and a precise look to your brows. I first apply the powder then go in with the wax to set them and to add more colour and definition, this is pricey but will last you ages, this is easy to use and works perfectly every time. You can also create a more natural looking by using either of the products on it's own. Link

America Holiday Haul

Hello everyone,

I am finally getting round to doing my America holiday haul for you all, I have got quit a lot to show you ranging from makeup (obviously) through to some teddy's! Also I haven't shown you presents I have got people because they may be reading!

Duty Free - Gatwick (South terminal)

I do like to treat myself at duty free considering the price differences, so from Mac I brought 3 eye shadows which are Wedge, Charcoal Brown and All That Glitters, Sweetie lipstick, Mac 234 eye shadow brush and the Erase Paste concealer from Benefit.

Sephora

I finally went to Sephora while in America which you would have seen from Florida day 2. I brought a canvas makeup bag saying ' I would cry but my makeup is designer', the Sephora eyeshadow in the shade Cashmere Coat, a Spehora eyeliner in Girl talk, the Bite travel size lipstick duo in Fig and Date, the Anastasia Dip brow pomade and the number 12 brush with a angled eyebrow brush and spoolie.

Walgreens/Walmart/Target

Then from the drugstores I brought 6 EOS lip balms and a EOS hand cream because they are amazing I would highly recommend these. I also brought the ELF small stipple brush to go with the NYX cream blush in Boho Chic, the ELF smudge pot in Crusin' Chic, the ELF eye shadow C brush and the lip balm tint in Berry.

Bath and Body Works

Well I brought 20 hand sanitisers from the best place in the world! I got a mixture of scents such as Pineapple Sorbet, Dazzling Diamond, Emergency Stache, Pure Paradise and many more. I also brought one of the holders.

I also brought 6 of the travel size body sprays in the sets cashmere glow, sweet pea, Japanese cherry blossom, paris amour, pink chiffon and endless weekend. They smell beautiful if I had my way all of them times 5 would have been in my case!

Victoria's Secret

I didn't buy much from Victoria's Secret because I already have a lot of their sprays! I brought the Mango temptation body spray, the mini Noir Tease body spray and two of their lip glosses in Love berry and Candy baby.

Calvin Klein 

I have wanted to buy a CK underwear set for the longest time, I had waited for America because I knew they would be much cheeper. I brought the white bralette and matching knickers.

Miscellaneous 

I brought 3 shot glasses one Miami south beach, one Florida and one Mimia beach one because I am now collecting shot glasses, one from every country I go to. I also brought a Miami pen and magnet.

While at universal I brought a little minion because minions are my favourite thing! I also brought a Universal Studios Shelby tree decoration. Then at disney I brought a Mini Mouse and a S key ring with some disney faces on.

Michael Kors

I did get another Michael Kors watch, this time a rose gold one with a blush pink rim in the middle. The watch is called a MK-4288, I am not too sure why the rose gold has came out orange looking but their is a better picture here.

America Wish List

Hello everyone,

I thought I would give you a extra blog post this week considering I am not that busy this weekend. If you didn't know I am going to America this summer, and I have a few things I really would love to buy and thought I would let you take a look.

Starting from the top, I have heard a lot about Bath and body works, and I really want to try their hand sanitisers and their body mists, because I want some nice smelling ones! Also I want another EOS Lip balm because they were amazing, and I seemed to have lost mine, but sticking with the lip category their is one lipstick brand which I have wanted one from and that is YSL, I really have to wanted to try their Rouge Volute lipsticks, I really want a coral/nude pink for everyday. A big item now is a Kate Spade planner, since I am going to college hopefully this year I really want to get super organised, and I would love a decent planner to help me get organised. Onto makeup again I have wanted the Anastasia dip brow pomade ever since I have got into my brows, it's looks really good! Then onto a beautiful palette which is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush palette, this looks stunning. Something from Victoria's Secret is a makeup bag, I have a few things from them but I have always wanted a makeup bag especially the white and pink stripes. Ok then the more expensive side of things to start off with the matte Ted Baker purse is something I want, ever since I got my Ted Baker purse for my birthday a few years ago, I have feel in love since, and the matte black one is high on my list especially in pink? Then hiding in the corner are two lovely Michael Kors watches, this is my favourite designer especially for jewellery, and since I got my gold Michael Kors watch I have wanted a silver and rose gold to complete the collection!

I thought this was something nice so I can remember the things I really would like when I go to America.

Let's Travel// Travel Makeup Bag

Hello everyone,

It is 9 days till I go to Turkey, and I have finished deciding what to put in my Travel Makeup. But now it is all done and I thought I would share with you the most exciting part of packing!

I have a little tip for you, when I am packing my makeup, I do it in order of how I put it on. I started off with the basics like primers and so on, then I moved onto Foundation, Concealer and so on, I done it in these steps -

My Eyebrow Routine

Hello everyone,

I have been wanting to do this for a while, but I wanted to waite till everything was perfect. This is my Brow routine, if you know me you will know I am obsessed with brows and everything to do with them. I thought I would share with you everything, from shaping to highlighting.

Everything from start to finish!

My Brows//

I thought I would give you kind of a history and facts on my brows. I don't have really bushy eyebrows but I have full brows. When I am getting my brows done I just ask them for a tidy up, and when filling them in I go natural but defined.

Maintaining//

I have never been one to pluck my eyebrows till there is no tomorrow. I hardly come near my brows with tweezers. But for shaping and generally maintaining my brows I go to get the waxed, I used to do them myself. But now I just get them done professionally, if your wondering it doesn't hurt at all. I do tweeze my eyebrows here and their if their is a random hair, for this I use the Tweezerman Paw Print Tweezers. Also if I am not going to get be able to get them done for a while, I use a temporary option which is the Nair Facial brush on hair remover. This is really good for just tidying your brows up and it takes 5 minutes, for quick and easy. 

Filling them in//

I use loads of different products but not on a daily basis, these are all my favorites. 

To start off with my everyday products I use the Benefit Brow Zings in Light. This comes with some powder and wax, I apply brush my brows out first, then I apply the powder all over, then brush again and apply the wax. I use the Real Techniques Brow Brush, this is great for a light dusting. Then for the wax I use the blending brush that comes in the set. If I want to apply some brow gel I use the Sephora Transparent brow gel, this isn't hard or crusty, just right. 

I also use the Anastasia Brow Powder in Medium Brown, this comes with two colours I use the darker one but I sometime mix it with the lighter one. To apply this I use a Forever 21 Eyeliner brush, I use this because it's stiff and picks up products really nicely. I also use the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown, I love this because it comes with a brush on one end, this is amazing it blends everything perfectly. The products is really nice and quick, great for in a rush. I also follow up with the Sephora Brow Gel aswell.

Highlighting//

I don't highlight everyday but I use some really simple products. I use the Benefit High Brow Glow, this is an amazing gold toned pencil, great for highlighting and creating a more defined arch, I love that this has a shimmer/shine to it, this looks great with a more natural brown. Or the either one I use is NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, this is amazing because it looks so natural, this is a white matte pencil which is very creamy and perfect for highlighting.

Everyday Makeup Products

Hello everyone,

I have to go back to school next Tuesday, and I want to show you some of the makeup products I will be wearing. This is perfect for everyday the products are very minimal. This is very easy and quick to apply.

Everyday makeup products 

For the face I have chosen my Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation (NC15). I love this it's medium to full coverage but you can sheer it out. This doesn't look over the top either, I love this because it lovers and this is great for oily skin and keeps you matte for a good 3-4 hours, then you have to apply powder.

I have been using loose powder a lot lately, I have been using the Rimmel Match Perfection loose powder. I love this it goes well with the foundation, also this is in Translucent, this is great because it doesn't apply any colour just a slight bit of coverage. 

I can't go a day without filling in my eyebrows, I think that Anastasia Brow Powder Duo, this is great for quickly filling them in. It is very quick to do, and it looks perfect either way. 

Then for blusher, I want something quick and easy, but I want something that has a shine/highlight in it. This is why I have chosen the Nars Blusher in Orgasm. This is so quick to just throw on and I love the way it looks, perfect for school aswell. This doesn't look to 'fake' or thrown on.

Mascara is so easy for me to pick, I wear this every time I am wearing makeup. And it's the Benefit They're real, this doesn't make you look like you have spider lashes. It lengthens and volumizes, but at the same time separates. This is well worth the money and I love it so much I have 3 others, full size and travel size.

For me lip products can look to over the top for school, but I think the Bourjois Color Boost glossy finish lipstick in Peach on the Beach. This is a pretty peachy pink, but what I like is when it wears off it looks still peachy. This is perfect to quickly apply and doesn't need that much effort.

Makeup Collection and Storage

Hello everyone,

I haven't done a blog post for 3 days and that is because I have two Spanish exams coming up a speaking and reading. But on Wednesday a package turned up and it was my new makeup storage. As you can guess this is a makeup collection and storage. I am going to do this in pictures and I am not trying to brag in any way, shape or form. Also this is more than the usual person and not as much as some, I do know this and I hope you can understand it's for the people who would like to see this.

I really do reccomend these drawers, they are very sturdy and in my opinion they look very nice and well worth the money. They are currently £18.49 on sale RRP is £34.99.

On the top I have a basket and in here I have some eyebrow products (Sephora, Gosh and Anastasia) and some random things like, a sponge, clip, blotting sheets, eye lash curler and lip Scrub/lip balm. Also I have my bruhes in Candle holders. My face brushes consist of Real Techniques and Eco Tools, my eye brushes are from Forever 21, Real Techniques, Elf and more places. Then in front of the brushes I have a mirror I use every morning from Boots.

In the first drawer I have quite a lot of foundations ranging from drugstore to high end. I have Garnier, Mac, Urban Decay, Maybelline, MUA, Natural collection, Nars, Revlon, Rimmel, 17, Collection and Bourjois.

This could be one of favourite drawers and it is all my blushers. I have too many but I love blush so much. I have brands like Elf, Nars, Tarte, Mac, Benefit, Max Factor, Natural Collection, MUA, Benefit, Clarins, Topshop, Rimmel, Vivo, Dainty Doll, Too Faced, Revlon, Barbra Daly and Collection.

In this drawer I have bronzers, Concealer/Primers, Powder and Highlighters. I have brands like Rimmel, Nars, Topshop, Soap and Glory, YSL, Maybelline, Borjois, NYX, Mac, Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, Elf, Stila. The box that all the concealers and primers are in is just a Iphone 5S box.

In this drawer I have Mascaras I use more at the front like Maybelline, Benefit, Chanel and Rimmel. Then in the middle part I have eyeliners and brow pencils, these vary from 17, Barry M, NYX, Rimmel and more. Then in the back is a bit random I have single eye shadows, Mascaras I don't use often and some eye shadow bases. I have brands like Mac, Too Faced, NYX, No7, Soap and Glory and more. The boxes are from old makeup storage.

Another favourite drawer of mine, in this is Lipsticks and Lip Glosses. I have jumbo lip pencils from Revlon, Bourjois, MUA and more. I also have lipsticks from Chanel, Mac, Revlon, Rimmel and more. I also have lip glosses from Chanel, Benefit, Clarins, Stila, Elf and more. In the tin at the back I have Stila lip glaze's and Elf Liquid lipsticks aswell as lip glosses. The tin is from a Body Shop gift.

In this drawer is Lip balms, Lip glosses and Lipsticks I don't use all the time and at the back is more Lip balms and Lip Glosses in a tube. I have brands like Maybelline, Elf, Collection, Nivea, MUA, NYX and more.

In the last drawer is eye shadow pallets. I have mainly nude's with brands like Mac, MUA, Urban Decay, Front cover, Stila, No7 and NYX. I also have some brush rolls are the back.

Haul// Sephora

Hello everyone,

I was meant to do this post yesterday or Friday but I was too tired, and I think it's worth the waite. My Uncle was coming over from America (he lives in San Francisco) and I kindly asked him to bring me a few things over from Sephora. I am over the moon with them.

Sephora Transparent Brown gel

There is one thing you should know about me and that is I love Brows, It's my favourite part of doing my makeup, and I love trying new products and you will see that in this haul. I was browsing the Sephora website and I haven't tried any brow gels, I have clear mascaras but not a specific brow gel. I was also drawn to this because it is waterproof. Benefit box powder - Hoola

I am such a big fan of Benefit boxed powders, and this is one I have always had my eye on, Hoola is such a well known Benefit product. This is more of a Bronzer and it's matte. Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush - Dollface

This for me is one of the most exciting products, I knew I wanted this because Essiebutton done a (blog post) on Tarte blushers and just made me want one even more. I decided to ask for a natural one because I wanted to wear it everyday, this is a light pink and looks so natural on the skin. Also I knew the packaging was nice, but it's stunning I love how the Amazon river is embossed into the blush. Also I love that the colour of the blush is the colour of the packaging. Anastasia Brow powder duo - Medium Brown

This is another thing I was really excited for! I got the Anastasia brow powder duo I got the colour Medium brown. I got this colour based on swatches and I would rather go light that darker.
